Sun City Grand Singles Event Volunteer Roles

Host a drop-in.  A member opens their home to members only for a casual evening .  There is no fee, and no need to sign-up in advance.  All members will bring a beverage of their choice (BYOB) and either an appetizer or dessert to share.  Prepare enough to feed six.  Contact the Activities Director to host.

Host an event.  The Singles Club hosts a variety of events.  Please refer to the Host Planning Packet for catering and entertainment information and forms.  A host can't do it all.  Please assist the host by volunteering for as-needed positions listed below.

Event check-in. Two volunteers are needed for event check-in.  You'll check attendees' names at the door when they arrive.

Greeter: Receives guests upon entry to an event, greets attendees in the wait line before the sign-up table, and other duties assigned by host.

Event set-up.  Each event will have different needs but the majority will include setting up banquet and guests tables with linens, cutlery, decorations, etc.

Food server.  We generally self-serve ourselves at pot-luck dinners.  When we have catered service, we'll ask for volunteers to serve the attendees.  The servers will help themselves once all attendees have been served.  Second helpings are generally self-serve.

Event clean-up.  It has become our practice that when you are leaving the event that you kindly toss your own used items: plates, cutlery, cups, etc.  At the conclusion of the event, we need volunteers to toss tablecloths, wash club dishes and leave the room clean.

Event photographer: This person is usually available before and during an event to take photos and/or videos and forwards them to the Webmaster after the event.
